France’s “Spiderman” Scales Paris Skyscraper

Alain Robert, who has become well-known for climbing skyscrapers, has now scaled a 152-meter high building in La Defense area in Paris. It took the “Spiderman” an hour to scale the building.

“I don't have anything to prove anymore except that I just enjoy doing it." With special bindings on his hands, he moved quickly from window to window to the top of the Ariane tower. In a ritual that has become familiar around the world, local police greeted him on top of the tower, then carted him off for a usual interview for trespass. Robert thanked the police for treating him courteously, unlike the harsh treatment he received in other countries.

1 er septembre 2009, Alain est parvenu au sommet de l'immeuble 2 des tours jumelles Petronas à Kuala Lumpur en Malaysie. C'est une ascension de 88 étages et 452 m. Il avait déjà à deux reprises escaladé les deux tours en 1997 et 2007 jour pour jour mais avait dû arrêter ses ascensions au 62éme étage.

SYDNEY (AFP) — A French climber nicknamed "Spiderman" scaled a landmark Sydney skyscraper, thrilling office workers but angering police, who arrested him upon his descent.

Police closed off roads along most of a city block as Alain Robert made his way up the 219 metre (718 foot) Aurora Place building without safety ropes or a harness, cheered on by about 200 pedestrians.

Police arrested Mr Robert at the top of the 62-storey Cheung Kong Centre, but he was later released without charge. He unfurled a banner during his climb, naming a website that claims to be counting down the number of months left to save the planet from global warming.

Alain Robert, also known as the 'French Spiderman,' decided to climb 52 stories of the New York Times building on Thursday before being arrested by the NYPD upon reaching the summit.Robert, who is known to scale high-rises to draw attention to environmental issues, did this particular climb untethered. Upon reaching the top he unfurled a banner that read "Global warming kills more people than 9/11 every week."

French "Spider-Man" Alain Robert has scaled the more than 20-story Portland House building in London to raise awareness about global warming.
